It finally happened. Don Mattingly is out as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ manager, in what is being termed publicly as a mutual parting of ways by Jon Heyman. According to Heyman, management liked Mattingly, but there wasn’t support for him long-term as manager. (I’m assuming long-term in this case means a few months from now).

Mattingly has been oft-criticized in Los Angeles. After five seasons, for a team that has surpassed the Yankees as the biggest spenders in baseball, having no World Series appearances is not acceptable. Mattingly finishes with a 446-363 regular season record in LA.
