Jim Irsay and Ryan Grigson Had "Heated Conversation" in Colts Locker Room

The Colts are still in first place in the putrid AFC South, but they’re 3-4 and pretty evidently in disarray. Today brought a game where the Saints got out to an early commanding lead, gained 449 yards, and held the ball for nearly two-thirds of the contest. Andrew Luck threw two more interceptions — he’s got eight touchdowns and seven picks in five starts this year.

Though it’s been generally assumed that Jim Irsay has sided with Ryan Grigson in the GM’s rift with Chuck Pagano, Zak Keefer of the Indy Star brought news that the Colts owner had some words with Grigson after today’s game:

"This is a mediocre football team with darn good players playing far beneath their potential. It’s what led to a heated conversation between owner Jim Irsay and General Manager Ryan Grigson in the locker room after the game. It’s what led to their desperate coach, Chuck Pagano — whose seat seems to be warming by the minute — giving an impassioned postgame speech to his players."

This story will be worth monitoring (and we’ll have some further Colts analysis in the morning). An in-season coaching change cannot be ruled out, and this is the first sign we’ve seen that the rest of the organization is on notice.
