MLB Threatening Legal Action Over Unlicensed Royals Clothing For Second Consecutive Postseason

Major League Baseball loves their trademarks and copyrights. Last year Homeland Security conducted a panty raid on behalf of Major League Baseball. This year they’re mad about some t-shirts with the slogan “Straight Outta Kauffman.” Via KSHB:

"Trademark attorney Clint Newton of Shook, Hardy and Bacon, said the MLB has a right to protect its brand. “It could confuse people, you’re using their brand to generate sales and that could harm its reputation,” said Newton. That applies to anything that could be associated with the team – even cookies decorated with baseball logos. If the team, the MLB or players want to prevent their likeness from being used for profit the government said they can do it."

The woman selling the shirts, Gracey Terrill, responded to MLB, saying, “We’re not going to stop until we absolutely have to.” A quick Google search shows a bunch of site selling some version of the t-shirt. No clue how many are related to this specific case. I’d link to them, but I don’t want to be accused of contributory infringement.
