Reports: Edinson Volquez's Father Died Today Before Son's Game 1 Start

The father of Edinson Volquez died earlier today in the Dominican Republic, according to multiple reports. The Kansas City Royals’ starting pitcher for Game 1 of the World Series took the mound less than a half hour after the news was first reported on Twitter.

Volquez took the mound as scheduled. It’s unclear if he has knowledge of his father’s passing.
