Ryan Mallett Released By Texans

Ryan Mallett, who missed the team flight to Miami this past week (he had to fly commercial), and was sulky on the sidelines a few weeks ago, has been released by the Houston Texans. As was reported last night, coach Bill O’Brien wanted to cut him before Sunday’s game, but was overruled by GM Rick Smith. As bleak as things have been for the 2-5 Texans, they’re only one game out of first place in the putrid AFC South. The season could be salvageable, but it doesn’t seem particularly likely with the optics at this point.
