Texas Tech's Jah'Shawn Johnson Ejected On Horrible Targeting Call

Texas Tech Red Raiders DB Jah’Shawn Johnson was ejected for targeting on this hit. It held up on review. It sort of looked bad from the opposite side angle. From the other, it clearly showed he did not lead with the crown of the helmet, or make much contact. To hit with the facemask, you have to be looking at what you are hitting, making it not targeting.
One can understand missing the call in real time. But, if referees can’t get it right reviewing multiple angles, it’s time to adjust the rule, or at least reduce its severe penalty.
