Ricardo Lockette of the Seahawks left the field on a stretcher after he took a vicious blindside hit from Jeff Heath of the Cowboys. Heath was flagged for an illegal blindside block on the play, and it seemed as though Fox officiating expert Mike Pereira felt it was in the gray area of legality. [UPDATE: This probably is a legal play, and is the type of hit that can probably never be totally legislated out of football.]

On the stretcher on the way out, Lockette made a gesture with his hands to indicate he has feeling in his extremities, and consciousness, which was an encouraging side. We are all hoping that he comes out of this comparatively okay.

UPDATE II: Peter Schrager just reported on the Fox broadcast that Lockette has a concussion, but has full motion in his body. That qualifies as good news considering how scary this looked initially.
