Connor McDavid suffered a shoulder injury during Tuesday’s Oilers – Flyers game. McDavid crashed into the boards with the help of Philly defensemen Brandon Manning and Michael Del Zotto. It wasn’t a dirty play, but it was awkward. When you’re as good as McDavid, sometimes two defenseman will skate as fast as they can and fall on top of you as you crash into the boards. There are no unwritten rules in the hockey code forbidding it, unfortunately.

McDavid is out “long term” with what is suspected to be a broken collarbone. McDavid was named the NHL Rookie of the Month in October and will now likely be out until sometime in 2016.
