New York Rangers Fans Maul Each Other Fighting for Henrik Lundqvist's Stick
By Kyle Koster
New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves Tuesday night in a 3-0 shutout victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. After skating out on the ice to receive recognition for being the game’s top star, he tossed his stick into the crowd.
It was a nice move. And it resulted in abject chaos as fans fought ferociously for the souvenir.
I mean, things really escalated quickly. One guy almost had his suit ruined.
After a lengthy struggle, team personnel decided to solve the situation by just taking the stick back to the Rangers locker room.
This is why — sometimes — fans can’t have nice things.
