Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta won the National League Cy Young Award yesterday after going 22-6 with a 1.77 ERA. He beat out both Clayton Kershaw and Zack Grienke of the Los Angeles Dodgers. But the real winner was Arrieta’s young son, Cooper, who stole the show during an interview.

That right there is a good sports child.

With Riley Curry mostly quiet since exploding on the scene during the NBA playoffs, the younger Arrieta has been making a compelling case for the imaginary Sports Kid of the Year award. You’ll remember his solid performance after the Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Wild Card game thanks to his dad’s stellar outing.
