The Cavs were blasting the Hawks by 26 points, and inexplicably, LeBron James was still in the game. So when the ball went out of bounds, LeBron walked toward the bench, put his hand up, and pulled himself out of the game. It was obvious to everyone he was subbing himself out. The announcers even noted it.

But the referees did not. So LeBron got a technical.

Hey David Blatt, when are you going to give LeBron fewer minutes? How about a night off? He can’t be logging heavy minutes like this. I know you’re waiting for Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert to return, but you’re also risking (further) alienating your star by making him play 33 minutes in a rout. And also, the Cavs can get to the playoffs from any spot in the East, and as you saw last year, seeding doesn’t matter.

LeBron finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in the Cavs’ win over the Hawks. Cleveland is 10-3, best in the East.
