Sixth-ranked Maryland beat unranked UConn at Madison Square Garden on Monday, 76-66. UConn had the lead down to 3 after a Daniel Hamilton three-pointer with 2:54 remaining, but the Huskies immediately unraveled. A questionable call on Jalen Adams during the ensuing inbounds lead to a Kevin Ollie technical foul and Maryland then finished the game on a 9-2 run.

While UConn was only called for four more fouls than Maryland (18-14), the Terrapins shot 17 more free throws. (29-12) Melo Trimble, the recipient of the touch foul that started the run, shot 15 of those free throws. After the game Kevin Ollie explained what happened on the technical. His version of the events is a bit muted compared to what the actual video shows.

All he did was touch the stack of papers! You can’t call a technical just because his hand moves faster than the wind!
