This week’s Pigsplosion podcast guest is Sports Illustrated NFL writer Doug Farrar. We opened up asking him about Mike Pettine’s recent comments that Russell Wilson is not a top-tier quarterback. Given that Farrar interviewed Pettine and Johnny Manziel this week, he had a unique perspective into their respective filters, or lack thereof. From there we discussed the Raiders-Packers matchup. Could this be a trap game for Green Bay with Arizona on the horizon next week?

Finally, we talked with Farrar about his own career, and how he wound up moving from Football Outsiders to Yahoo to SI.

After Farrar got off the line, the two of us went through the matchups, with various tangents about how the Jets have assembled a roster with other teams’ castoffs, who in the league is the worst at converting on third down, AFC playoff implications, and comparisons of which receivers in NFL history are as freakishly athletic as Odell Beckham Jr.
