Stephen Curry tossed another over-the-head alley-oop pass to Andrew Bogut in Golden State’s win over Utah Wednesday night, but these type of passes have become so commonplace, they’re almost not special anymore. The Warriors won by 18.

If the NBA season officially begins on Christmas Day, the Warriors head into their NBA Finals rematch with Cleveland at 27-1, leading the NBA in scoring (115.5 ppg) and undefeated in the West (17-0). Their lone loss was to Milwaukee, without Harrison Barnes, on the final game of a 7-game road trip.

The Cavs are 19-7, tops in the East. In any ordinary year, this would be considered a terrific record – they’re on pace for about 60 wins. But in a year where the Warriors are going to threaten the 1996 Bulls’ record of 72 wins, and the Spurs are a don’t-forget-about-us 25-5, the depleted Cavs haven’t been that impressive.

But Kyrie Irving is back, and it’s a rematch of the Finals, and it’s Christmas Day with no competition on TV … so expect the 5 pm game to generate some record ratings.
