Christof Innerhofer came just .07 seconds from a medal in the World Cup downhill. I’m far from a skiing expert but I have to think dragging a gate and flag behind him on the run may have have hurt his time.

That said, it was pretty awesome.

Innerhofer is embracing his bad-boy turn.

"“Bode Miller’s no longer around so there needs to be another crazy guy,” Innerhofer said. “It was really at the limit and very dangerous. I couldn’t see and I was carrying the pole and the panel. … It felt like a parachute behind me.”"

Kudos to him for turning a potential Wide World of Sports “agony of defeat” moment into something less eventful.
