The No. 18 Houston Cougars are in a big-time bowl game and they are making the most of it. Head coach Tom Herman isn’t leaving anything in the playbook against No. 9 Florida State at the Peach Bowl, as he broke out a sweet trick play in the middle of the second quarter.

On first and 10 from Florida State’s 20-yard line, quarterback Greg Ward Jr., handed the ball to running back Ryan Jackson, who then flipped it to wide receiver Demarcus Ayers. Not content to stick with a traditional reverse, Ayers loaded up and chucked an off-balance pass to the end zone where Chance Allen was standing all alone for a touchdown. That gave Houston a 14-7 lead, which they have now quickly expanded to 21-7 before the half.

Sure, Ayers’ pass was a complete duck, but that’s just nitpicking. Great call by the Cougars, especially since it’s the last game of the year and you can’t hold anything back now…right Dan?
