Mike Francesa Has Had It Up to Here With JJ Watt
The Texans fell 30-0 to the Chiefs on Saturday. On his Sunday morning program, Mike Francesa excoriated the team, and took particular aim at the decision to put JJ Watt in as a running back near the goal line with Vince Butch Wilfork as his lead blocker. Some highlights:
- “I understand the total building of the shrine to JJ Watt. I understand that it’s more there to build a Watt legacy than it is to build a football game. But what they did yesterday, if I’m an owner, I would jump out of the booth and tell my coach that if you ever do that again you won’t even finish the game.”
- “This is not about the legacy of building a Paul Bunyanesque statue.”
- “You should all be embarrassed. I’d fire the coach over that.”
- Watt didn’t even make a PLAY in that game. ALL HE DID WAS FALL DOWN FOUR OR FIVE TIMES”
The anger builds up like a crescendo, and by the 2:30-mark Mike is really rolling. A legend in his own time.
