Yogi Ferrell just topped a pretty impressive list. During Indiana’s Tuesday night matchup with Illinois, Ferrell dished out his 546th career assist, becoming the all-time leader in the history of Indiana basketball.

Midway through the first half, Ferrell threw a gorgeous no-look pass to Max Bielfeldt in the post, and the big man finished with a layup to give Ferrell the record.

The Hoosiers have had a ton of amazing guards over the years, but Ferrell is now on the top of the school’s assists mountain. He passed Michael Lewis to capture the record, but on his way to the top, Yogi breezed by IU legends like Quinn Buckner (542), Tom Coverdale (500), Jamal Meeks (474), Damon Bailey (474), Randy Wittman (432) and A.J. Guyton (403). That’s quite a list of phenomenal college players.

Ferrell’s impressive senior season is continuing tonight, as the First-team All-Big Ten player from 2015 is looking to reach All-American status this year. Entering tonight’s contest with the Illini he’s averaging 17.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. If he continues on this pace, he could crack the top five in assists all-time in the Big Ten.

The Indiana native was the point guard for the No. 1 team in the nation as a freshman and the Hoosiers had two rocky seasons during his sophomore and junior campaigns, but they appear to be on the right track this year. The Hoosiers have won 10 in a row entering Tuesday night and are 15-3 and 5-0 in the Big Ten. During his career Ferrell has been the one guy Indiana has been able to count on. He has always shown up to play, although the guys around him have let Indiana down from time to time.
