Pierre McGuire Interviewed the Wrong Bald Red Wings Coach

Pierre McGuire’s in-game interview for NBC Sports Network with Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill got off to a rocky start when he started firing questions at the wrong guy. McGuire realized he was speaking to assistant coach Pat Ferschweiler in time to avoid total disaster.

In the reporter’s defense, Blashill is a rookie coach and not exactly a household name outside of Detroit. On the other hand, identifying the leader of the current No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference is an integral part of his job.

I’d use this an example of the unjust War on Bald (its major weapon being the idea that all hairless men look alike) if the perpetrator of the microaggression wasn’t also follicle-challenged. So perhaps this friendly fire can be chalked up as an innocent mistake. But this type of face blindness never happened at the expense of Mike Babcock and his glorious, flowing locks.
