David Blatt has been fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers according to Adrian Wojnarowski. This should come as somewhat of a shock to the NBA as the Cavaliers are on top of the Eastern Conference and hold the third-best record in the entire league. The Cavs won their last two games after getting blown out by the Warriors and Cleveland management and/or LeBron James must feel that Blatt isn’t the guy who can get them over the top.
Blatt was 83-40 in a season and a half with the Cavaliers and took them to the NBA Finals in his first season. Wow.
Update: And before anyone suggests LeBron as Player/Coach, the Cavs have named Tyronn Lue as the new head coach. Let the stories about Blatt’s tenure in Cleveland begin.
Assistant Ty Lue has agreed to a multi-year deal as new Cavaliers head coach, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
