Steph Curry Torches Spurs & Warriors Cruise. Does That Mean the Season is Over?

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors beat the Tim Duncan-less San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, 120-90. Curry was his usual self, scoring 37 points in 28 minutes on 12 of 20 shooting from the field. Curry sat the entire fourth quarter.

Hopefully, Duncan missing the game will at least slightly cool the hot takes today because you may remember the Warriors just destroyed the Cavaliers, Bulls, and Pacers last week and all those team’s seasons were basically declared over. Hell, the Cavs fired their coach because it was decided that they couldn’t beat the Warriors with David Blatt pacing the sidelines in a suit.

Mind you, the Spurs and Warriors will meet three more times in the regular season, but last night seemed to reinforce the league’s hierarchy – The Warriors, followed by the Spurs and Cavs (coming out of the East) and then everyone else. It’s only January and our only hope may be the Oklahoma City Thunder.

OKC and Golden State have yet to play this season. Their first meeting will come on Super Bowl Saturday. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant have quietly carried the Thunder to the 4th best winning percentage in the league. Maybe they have the required firepower to challenge the champs. Maybe? Maybe.

Probably not.
