Johnny Manziel Will Not Be Charged in Latest Alleged Incident

Though there were harrowing allegations initially made to police by Johnny Manziel’s ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, the Dallas Police Department released the following statement (via Adam Schefter):

"The Dallas Police Department has conducted the appropriate investigative follow-up to the report forwarded to us by the Ft. Worth Police Department regarding an alleged incident involving Johnny Manziel. Investigative efforts to date have not resulted in the filing of a criminal complaint and the incident is determined to be closed. No further statement is expected at this time."

Speaking with TMZ, Manziel denied striking Crowley, and threatening to kill both his ex-girlfriend and himself, and said he is “100% committed to football.”

However, Schefter adds that this latest incident is not fully behind Manziel as of yet:

While Dallas PD has closed its investigation into Johnny Manziel's alleged assault, Fort Worth PD has not. Its investigation continues.

Even if Manziel does uiltimately escape legal sanctions in this case, it is difficult to see a scenario in his present state where he is on an NFL roster next season.

UPDATE: Schefter reports that Manziel will not be charged in Fort Worth either.
