Free agent outfielder Delmon Young is accused of choking and threatening to kill a valet attendant in Miami. Young became enraged when the attendant refused him entry to an elevator leading to a hotel club.

"The attendant told Young that the club was closed, but Young became irate and said, “Stupid Cuban. Open the (expletive) door. I’m here. Now what?” the report said. Young walked away, but returned moments later, demanding that the attendant open the door. After the attendant repeated that the club was closed, Young told him, “I’m gonna (expletive) kill you, you Latin piece of (expletive),” the report said. Young then reached over the valet podium and placed his hands on the attendant’s neck, but the attendant was able to break free and ran for help, the report said."

The 30-year-old faces battery charges.

Young appeared in 52 games for the Baltimore Orioles last season and is no stranger to controversy. In 2012 he was arrested for an altercation outside the Detroit Tigers’ team hotel in which he hurled anti-Semetic slurs during a fight. The incident led to a seven-game suspension by Major League Baseball. It’s unclear if he’s trying to hit for the racial bias cycle.

What’s clearer is that the baggage associated with his occasionally powerful bat just got heavier.
