Cristiano Ronaldo led Real Madrid to a 2-0 away win against Roma in the first leg of their Round of 16 Champions League match up on Wednesday. In the process he scored yet another wonder goal, which is something we’ve come to expect from the 31-year-old Portuguese forward every time he hits the pitch.

After a beautiful pass from Marcelo found him, Ronaldo took off sprinting down the left side before deftly cutting back against the play with a cheeky back-heel. He then blasted a shot that curved inside the far post after taking a slight deflection. Roma keeper Wojciech Szczesny never had a chance.

The goal gave Real a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute and Jese went on to add a tally in the 86th minute to give Los Blancos what looks to be an insurmountable 2-0 margin heading into the second leg.

It was Ronaldo’s 12th Champions League goal season and the first time he has scored in an away match in any competition since November 29. Questions about his away form had dogged him all recently. Clearly he answered those queries emphatically on Wednesday.
