Keith Hornsby Hernia Injury Signals RIP For the LSU Basketball Season
By Jason McIntyre
Keith Hornsby, LSU’s 2nd leading scorer and best 3-point shooter, re-aggravated a hernia injury against Tennessee Saturday and may miss the remainder of the season according to ESPN.
Hornsby, the son of singer Bruce Hornsby, missed LSU’s first seven games this season – the Tigers were just 4-3 without him – and not having him for the end of the regular season against Florida and Kentucky is bad news.
And so it all leads to this: LSU, featuring the #1 pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Ben Simmons, must win the SEC Tournament to get into the NCAA Tournament. We tried to tell you about this back in December, and yes, it will be very bad for college basketball. This doesn’t mean the tournament can’t or won’t be great, but the bigger-picture ramifications are brutal.
The next time a Top 10 recruit who could be one-and-done tries to talk about going to a non-basketball factory, the case of Ben Simmons will definitely be discussed.
