Stephen Curry has been brilliant. The discussion, as it will, moved toward whether we’ve seen anything like this before. Phil Jackson weighed in, comparing Curry to…Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf’s “short but brilliant run in the NBA.”

Abdul-Rauf was an excellent shooter. However, he never shot .400 from three-point range. Curry has never shot below .400 from three-point range. He’s shooting .440 while launching more than 2,400 three-point attempts since 2012. That’s before one factors in the difficulty of the shots Curry is making.

Curry, of course, has an MVP and a title under his belt (and is an overwhelming favorite to repeat). Abdul-Rauf…won the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award one year.

Per these numbers run by Andy Glockner, the closest thing we’ve seen statistically to Curry is career years from Peja Stojakovic, Paul Pierce, and Reggie Miller. Curry is doing it every year.
