Browns Like Carson Wentz Over Jared Goff (For Now), And Here's Why

Carson Wentz, the 6-foot-6 red-headed QB who a year ago most football fans had never heard of, is suddenly the darling of the NFL draft.

The kid from Bismarck who starred at North Dakota State – although he started just seven games last season due to an injury – looked fantastic throwing against air at the NFL Combine over the weekend.

He looked so good, that here’s what Peter King wrote in The MMQB about the Cleveland Browns current thought process with the No. 2 pick:

"And Cleveland’s picking a quarterback unless the Browns steal Brock Osweiler (unlikely) from Denver in free agency. I hear the Browns liked Wentz over Jared Goff in the interview process, but even if true, we’re in mile 3 of the 26.2-mile draft-process marathon. Over the weekend, I heard more positive stuff about Wentz than Goff from teams with quarterback needs, but that could change six times between now and the draft."

I find this startling, but I’ll expand on it Tuesday in my 36-hours-at-the-Combine story. In case you missed the 2014 version, here it is.
