Dwight Howard Told Gus Johnson He Wanted to Be Traded to Milwaukee at Deadline?

Gus Johnson was announcing this evening’s game between the Bucks and Rockets. Dwight Howard was on the line and Johnson said Howard had told him that he “wanted to come to Milwaukee during the trade deadline.”

However, Howard couldn’t have wanted to go that badly, because he declined to agree to an extension with the Bucks, who didn’t want to do a deal where they had to part with assets and then risk losing the big man at the end of the season.

Even if Howard would have made the Bucks better this season, it’s not like he was going to vault them into championship contention. He’s on the downside of his career, and has reached a point where in my opinion his talent isn’t worth the headache that he brings.

Things aren’t the greatest in Houston now, but they are currently in a playoff position and the fact that Dwight would openly speak about wishing he’d been traded while he’s still a member of the Rockets speaks volumes about what it’s like to have him on your team. With Dwight’s unwillingness to sign a new deal, the Bucks dodged a bullet.
