Carmelo Anthony had rough night against the Blazers on Tuesday. Despite a solid 23-point, 10-rebound, 4-assist game, Portland beat the Knicks in Madison Square Garden, 104-85. Carmelo had an embarrassing moment during the game when he got stuffed by the rim on a dunk attempt during a dead ball. After the game, Melo got into it with a fan. That’s when Melo snapped. Via the New York Post:

"“He kept calling my name, calling my name, said you guys suck, you guys suck,’’ Anthony said. “At that point, I was trying to gather myself. I turned around and all I did was pointed to Dolan. I told him, ‘look, the owner’s right there, ask for your money back.’ At that point, he told me he wasn’t coming to another game. You just don’t want to hear that. I pointed to the owner and told him, ‘look, you deal with that with him and see if you can get your money back.’ ’’"

This isn’t the first time Melo has had to deal with heckler in MSG this season. Though at leas the other time it wasn’t a Knicks fan who was giving him crap.

You have to wonder what Carmelo thought was going to happen. All rumors pointed to him having a chance to leave New York at the trade deadline, but this is what he wanted. He’ll be 32 in a couple months and any dreams of having “being the man in New York City” meaning anything are all but dead.

The Knicks are currently the 13th best team in the Eastern Conference and the only team that doesn’t have a brighter immediate future is probably the Brooklyn Nets. No marquee free agents are coming to New York to play with Carmelo. No help is coming from the 2016 NBA Draft. The heckling has just started for Carmelo Anthony. The losing started three years ago. And he’s still got three years left on his contract. The important thing is that his wife really likes living in the city.
