Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz made the media rounds yesterday, ahead of their fight tonight at UFC 196. If you needed proof that tonight’s fight is kind of a big deal, look no further than this interview on CNBC. (Don’t expect Frank Mir and Mark Hunt to show up on cable news ahead of their fight later this month.)

CNBC’s Jane Wells conducted the “interview” where McGregor bragged about having an unspecified amount of money and Diaz ended up walking off set. Questions were asked, but no answers were given. Wells asked both fighters how much they would make tonight and in their careers. Neither offered any sort of real answer. It was awkward. McGregor even asked Wells to send him a picture of herself.

It made for entertaining television, but there’s really no reason it should have. Wells asked what the fighters had to do to make the UFC as big as the NFL or NBA. Being able to openly  discuss their contracts might be a start.
