Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell Traded to the Dolphins For Draft Picks?
By Jason McIntyre
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to purge all of Chip Kelly’s acquisitions, and the morons running the team now are doing it at the worst possible time. Who sells low? That’s the worst business decision one can possibly make, but hey, Howie Roseman, the new Eagles GM, knows football:
Yes, Maxwell was a disaster last year in Philadelphia. He was arguably the worst cornerback in the NFL (certainly most overpaid). Alonso is a different story – he was coming off a major injury, and clearly struggled in his first year back.
But in his first year in the league, with Buffalo, he was the defensive rookie of the year by one publication.
The Dolphins are getting two fairly talented players, and they’re getting them for very cheap. That’s good business. If Maxwell is your #2 or #3 corner, that’s not the worst thing in the world (I’d imagine his contract will have to be restructured). Alonso, assuming he’s fully healthy, could be a plug-and-play guy. He just needs his confidence back.
Assuming the deal gets done, this could be a huge win for the Dolphins. For the Eagles, this is just the beginning of the purge.
