Leicester City Fan Cashed Out For $102,000 On 5,000-1 Bet

Leicester City could be among the (if not the) biggest long shots in sports history. The Foxes hold a commanding lead with nine matches remaining. Odds for them winning the title are now 5-4. But, one fan did not want to push his luck.
A bettor in England put down £50 ($71) on Leicester City to win the title before the season at 5,000-1. The bet would have paid off around $355,000. The bettor cashed out with a $102,000 settlement.
Unfortunately, he did not wait until after Leicester City’s 1-0 win over Watford last weekend. That win, coupled with the Arsenal-Tottenham draw would have netted him an extra $27,000 on the payout.
There’s something to be said about taking the six-figure payout and enjoying the greatest season in your club’s 132-year history for its own sake. Though, it is a startling amount of sensibility from someone who put down real money on a 5,000-1 futures bet.
