Roy Williams Has Some Thoughts on Unbalanced Scheduling: Horse-bleep

After North Carolina rallied to beat Pittsburgh in the ACC tournament quarterfinals, Tar Heels coach Roy Williams was asked about the unbalanced scheduling in the conference this year.

I thought it was a weird question. Sure, the Tar Heels only played Louisville, Notre Dame, and Virginia once, but all three were on the road (UNC went 0-3). They played Duke twice (split) and only played Miami once (at home).

[Aside: It’s not like UNC is ducking folks out-of-conference. I’m the last guy to defend Roy Williams, but the Tar Heels did play Maryland (at home), Texas (on the road), plus UCLA and Kansas State at neutral sites.]

According to Ken Pom, UNC is 19th in strength of schedule. It of course factors in non-conference games, but 19th in the country is good for 5th in the ACC, behind Wake Forest, Virginia, Miami and Duke.

Here’s Roy’s response:

The Tar Heels will face Duke or Notre Dame Friday in the semifinals.
