Deyonta Davis Skied for a Controversial Block to Seal Michigan State Win over Maryland

Michigan State edged past Maryland, 64-61, in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. The Terrapins locked down defensively in the second half and had two chances to take a lead in the game’s final 30 seconds. Both times freshman center Deyonta Davis made key defensive plays to keep the Spartans in front.

First he blocked Diamond Stone’s jump hook at the apex. The contact was perilously close to a goaltend but was ruled clean.
Then he managed to prevent Melo Trimble from getting a shot on rim without fouling in the final seconds, setting the stage for another “controversial” no-call.
