The San Antonio Spurs outscored the Oklahoma City Thunder 27-17 in the 4th quarter last night, securing a 93-85 win. That was the 12th time the Thunder have blown a lead entering the 4th quarter this season.

Oklahoma City has lost 8 of their last 12 overall since Valentine’s Day, and have gone 0-5 over that stretch in games decided by five points or less.

Those defeats could prove critical this season. Oklahoma City is just one game ahead of the Clippers for 3rd place in the West. The fourth place team would play Golden State in the second round.

They may be more critical long term. Kevin Durant, who had 28 points and 8 assists in a losing effort, will be signing his next contract with the team that gives him the best chance to win the title.
