Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager hit a long fly ball that was caught by Daniel Nava for the second out of the inning. Nava, thinking it was the third out of the inning, turned to throw the ball into the crowd.

Stefen Romero, who was starting back to first was very confused. Romero turned and took second and third base on what was a two-base error. The only problem was, Romero forgot to tag up. So when the Angels appealed the play, Romero was called out. The play was scored a 7-E7-1-3 double play. This was basically the hidden ball trick taken to its logical extreme.
