Draymond Green averaged 16.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.9 blocks as a senior at Michigan State. He was the B1G and NABC Player of the Year. He then slipped all the way to the Golden State Warriors in the 2nd round with the 35th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. You’ll never guess which franchise supposedly had him very highly ranked. Via SI:

"Every NBA team passed on the Michigan State product, but at least one team did have him high on their draft board. Brian Scalabrine said Celtics assistant GM Mike Zarren showed him the team’s 2012 draft board, which had Green in the top three. The other two? Anthony Davis and Jared Sullinger, who the C’s selected with the 21st pick."

The moral of the story? The Celtics blew this draft. They had the wrong guy ranked second and then took Fab Melo and left the guy they thought was third-best in the draft on the board. I’m just glad someone who works for the Celtics was brave enough to step up and tell the world how smart the Celtics are.

And before you go pretending the Warriors knew what they were doing, they passed on Green twice as well. Instead they took Harrison Barnes (7) and Festus Ezeli (30). The moral of the story is that no one knew how good Draymond Green was going to be.
