Will Hill has been suspended 10 games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The free agent safety was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday when they learned of his suspension.

Hill is no stranger to controversy, he has been suspended by the NFL on three previous occasions and also arrested for failure to pay child support. His first suspension came on October 8, 2012 for using Adderall while a member of the New York Giants. He was then suspended again for the first four games of the 2013 seasons for again violating the league’s substance abuse policy. After that suspension Hill underwent drug rehabilitation for two months in Boston.

On December 21, 2013 Hill was arrested on a warrant for outstanding child support payments (and no, that doesn’t mean his child support payments were awesome, it means they were unpaid). He was not suspended by the NFL for the arrest and in March 2014 another warrant was issued for his arrest for non-payment of child support as well.

On May 30, 2014 Hill was suspended for the first six games of the 2014 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy yet again. Despite claims in December of 2014 that he had made changes in his personal life, Hill has again been popped for using drugs. He just can’t seem to get out of his own way.

The Ravens trusted Hill enough to sign him to a two-year, $7 million contract extension before the 2015 season. On Wednesday they cut him and put his NFL future in serious doubt.

Hill is a 26-year-old who certainly has the talent to play safety in the NFL, so he may get another chance at some point. But after all of his personal troubles why would and NFL team trust that he’s going to get his life back together?
