Ian Poulter took to Twitter to call out a heckler and notify the guy’s bosses. Now we learn that the heckler, J.J. Downum, an assistant AD at Florida Southern since 2014, has been fired from his job.

"Via The Leger: The tweets indeed had consequences for Downum. “He’s no longer employed at the institution,” said Pete Meyer, Florida Southern’s director of athletics and dean of wellness on Wednesday."

Even after Poulter notified Downum’s boss, Downum did not back down from his tweets or apologize. His Twitter account has since been deleted, but not before he sent one last message to Poulter, “thanks Ian!! Wanna watch the Ryder Cup together?!?!”

Poulter takes the Ryder Cup seriously, probably too seriously, and has been a thorn in the American team’s side every year he’s been on the European team.

This story likely will resurface once the Ryder Cup starts, and if Poulter makes the European team, he can probably look forward to plenty of heckling.
