Wisconsin snuck by Pittsburgh in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night in what was easily the ugliest game of the weekend so far. If you were lucky enough to be watching literally anything else, let me just catch you up on some of the shooting numbers from the evening.

-The two teams combined to shoot just 34.6 percent from the field. Wisconsin hit 32.1 percent of its shots, while Pitt hit 37.5 percent.

-The teams combined to miss 66 shots in 40 minutes of basketball. That’s appalling.

-The Badgers and Panthers combined to hit just seven 3-pointers on 30 attempts. That’s a robust 23.3 percent from beyond the arc. Yeesh.

-Wisconsin was especially horrendous from downtown, as the Badgers hit just 4-of-19 3-pointers, but Vitto Brown was 3-for-5 on the night. If you take him out of the mix, the rest of the team combined to go 1-of-14 from deep. That’s 7.1 percent.

-The Badgers were led by redshirt freshman Ethan Happ, who had 15 points while shooting 6-of-8 from the field. The aforementioned Brown hit 4-of-7 shots from the field. The rest of the team combined to hit just 7-of-38 shots, which is 18.4 percent. Just a reminder: Wisconsin won the game.

-Badgers senior Nigel Hayes was 3-of-17 from the field. He missed 14 shots!

-Pitt had just one player (Jamel Artis) in double figures with 13 points. He was also the only player on his team to hit a 3-pointer, he went 3-of-6 from deep.

-Panthers senior guard James Robinson finished 3-of-14 from the field and missed his final 10 shots.

-Wisconsin got just two points off the bench. Pitt got 11 and when you consider the final score that seems like a lot.

-Only two players on Wisconsin (Happ and Hayes) even attempted a free throw. Pitt sent just three guys to the stripe.

I could seriously go one with these numbers forever. It was an absolute abomination of a basketball game. Guys were missing wide open shots all night. It was atrocious.

The game was so bad I wanted to fire coaches who weren’t even involved. Other than myself being conceived, I can’t imagine anything I’d like to watch less.

Hopefully someone is smart enough to just burn the footage of this one so we never have to watch or speak of it again.
