Anthony Davis Shut Down for Season

Anthony Davis is being shut down for the season, Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry announced. Davis has been hobbled by knee and shoulder injuries. Specific procedures are not known as of this time:

This announcement did not come entirely out of nowhere; earlier this week Gentry acknowledged that shutting down Davis was not out of the realm of possibility. Nevertheless, it’s a big bummer that one of the league’s brightest young players is already hampered by injuries serious enough to warrant missing time.

If Davis is All-NBA this season, his 5-yr contract (kicks in next season) can reach ~$145M.
If not All-NBA: ~$121M.
