Jordan Spieth is the number one ranked golfer in the world, and as a young guy (22) who grew up during Tiger’s dominant days on Tour, many would assume that his childhood golf idol would be Tiger Woods, but apparently that is not the case. Spieth, before the WGC-Dell Match Play, hosted at his college stomping grounds, the Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas, was asked if he knew that Adam Scott played college golf, to which he responded:

"“He went to UNLV. He was my favorite player growing up.”"

His answer caused a few laughs and an, “I don’t believe that,” response, which drew even more laughs.

"“I’ve said that,” Spieth responded. “Have I not been quoted on that before?”"

Spieth was then asked if he had a poster of Scott, which he quickly shot down with a ‘eww, I’m not a fanboy’ facial expression and:

"“I don’t think I had a poster.”"

The young Texan then went on to explain why he likes Scott.

"“I loved his game. I obviously loved his golf swing. Who doesn’t? I really enjoyed the way he went about it on the course.” “When I was a little kid, I had a Byron Nelson [Championship] ticket that he had signed and I liked his signature,” Spieth recalled. “He had kind of a star on his signature. It was pretty cool. I don’t know, I just liked that when I was younger.”"

When he finished explaining that it wasn’t just Scott’s game that got his attention as a kid, Spieth was asked whether or not Scott knew of his fandom:

"“Yeah. I don’t know. Maybe.”"
