The Philadelphia 76ers are 'Trusting the Process' to Unprecedented Extremes

You may have heard, but, the Philadelphia 76ers are having one of the worst seasons in NBA history…

…again…

On Saturday night at the Moda Center in Portland, the 76ers trailed the Portland Trail Blazers by 3 points with 7 seconds left. After Jerami Grant missed two free throws for Philly, Portland obtained possession.

Traditionally, in the game of basketball, when you’re down by 3 points with only seconds remaining and the other team is in-bounding the ball — you foul in hopes that the opposition misses and you can have one final opportunity at forcing overtime.

The Philadelphia 76ers do not agree with this strategy; they’d just rather have the clock run out and lose. Here is some of the most hilarious end-of-game management you’ll ever see:

" Some of the most hilarious end-of-game management I think ive ever seen Sixers down 3 w/7 seconds left, DONT FOUL ? pic.twitter.com/hDlc1gOZTq — Roban Perezanovic (@World_Wide_Wob) March 27, 2016 "

Like, no seriously…

The 76ers just let the clock run out without even attempting to play defense/steal the in-bounds pass/foul.

GET THAT #1 DRAFT PICK PHILLY. While many would classify this blasphemous white flag waving as “tanking” … I beg to differ.

#TRUSTTHEPROCESS. It’s going to payoff!!!!

Ok maybe not everyone is a believer.
