Worker Wearing Green Bay Packers Hat at Target Field Results in Angry Letter to the Editor

Ah, yes, NFL letters to the editor. For a few months last season they were all the rage. From scantily-clad cheerleaders to Cam Newton’s showmanship, they were the one fire-resistance place local readers could store their flaming hot takes.

It appears that some agitated newspaper readers are keeping their letter-writing skills sharp during the offseason.

Here’s a strongly worded reaction to a seemingly innocuous Minnesota Star-Tribune article about extending the protective netting at Target Field. Carrie Skagerberg has a big problem with the art, which showed a worker wearing a Green Bay Packers hat.

“I was so insulted that the March article about new safety netting at Target Field included a photo of a man wearing a Green Bay hat at Target Field,” she wrote. “I was actually so angry I couldn’t read past the title. Nets being put up in our Minnesota stadium must be done by someone wearing a Minnesota hat or nothing at all. Signed, a disgusted reader.”

Discussion over baseball’s unwritten rules has been out of control lately. And that was before some dude had the audacity to keep his head warm while working outside with a knit cap featuring a team logo from a neighboring state.

If you’re not going to respect the game and turf, don’t bother wearing anything at all, dammit.

This may seem like an odd hill on which to take a stand, but one must consider the slippery slope. If this behavior goes unpunished, what’s next: Milwaukee Bucks hats at Vikings games? Iowa Hawkeyes gear at Timberwolves games?

Can’t have it.
