Colin Kaepernick wants to leave the San Francisco 49ers. How badly? The Denver Broncos may have interest in pairing Kaepernick with their Super Bowl caliber defense. But, per Jason Cole, he would have to take a hefty $4.9 million pay cut, to $7 million next year for the Broncos to trade for him.

Kaepernick’s $11.9 million salary for 2016 becomes guaranteed if he’s on the team tomorrow. Adam Schefter is reporting the 49ers will not release him.

The 49ers and Chip Kelly may not be the ideal NFL situation at the moment. But, is leaving San Francisco worth $4.9 million guaranteed? For a quarterback with uncertain earnings potential moving forward? You could factor in California taxes and Bay Area cost of living, but, still, that’s a lot of money.

Staying in the Bay Area would also allow Kaepernick to avoid playing in the same geographical proximity to his birth mother, which is surely a major factor in the decision-making process.
