Villanova crushed Oklahoma 95-51 in the first National Semifinal. Villanova had shot lights out in the first half, and that didn’t stop as the game continued, and Oklahoma simply could not buy a basket. About halfway through the second half, the Oklahoma team lost all of its energy and the game got way out of hand.

How much? It’s the largest margin in a Final Four game ever, by 8 points. It’s 10 points worse than the biggest blowout in an elimination game (since we no longer play the third place games, which used to be played between the two semifinal losers).

It’s also the largest margin in ANY game in this tournament, with a larger spread than Oregon beating 16-seed Holy Cross by 39. That deserves a “yikes.”
