Five Sleepers Who Could Pull Off a Win at the Masters
By Michael Shamburger
Brandt Snedeker
Brandt Snedeker won the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this season and he did so in very difficult conditions. He and Dufner also shared a win at the Franklin Templton Shootout. Snedeker has yet to win a major but with four top 10 finishes in 11 starts and a total of eight PGA Tour wins, he’s a proven veteran.

Paul Casey
Paul Casey isn’t exactly a name that jumps to mind when you think of the Masters, but the Englishman is in his 16th PGA Tour season and had a solid outing at Augusta National last year. He is coming off of a month in which he had two top 10 performances and a disappointing showing at the WGC-Dell Match Play.

Jason Dufner
Jason Dufner hadn’t won a PGA Tour event since the 2013 PGA Championship until earlier this year. Dufner won the CareerBuilder Challenge after holding off David Lingmerth in a playoff. He is currently ranked 12th in the FedExCup standings and has four top 10 finishes this year, albeit they all came early in the season. At 27th in strokes gained tee-to-green Dufner has shown he can give himself scoring opportunities, but he ranks 127th in strokes gained putting. If he wants to put on a green jacket, he’s going to have to make everything he looks at.

Bill Haas
Bill Haas winning the Masters would be pretty spectacular. Haas has four top 10 finishes – not including the Hero World Challenge – this season. He’s a likable guy who anchored the US President’s Cup team. His dad, Jay Haas, had nine PGA Tour wins but his highest finish at Augusta is a tie for third. If Bill could walk away with a green jacket, it would be a pretty sweet scene.

Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas won his first PGA Tour event, the CIMB Classic, way back in November 2015. Since then his results have been up and down, but his T3 performance at The Honda Classic shows that he isn’t far from where he needs to be. Thomas is currently 35th in strokes gained tee-to-green but 129th in strokes gained putting. A green jacket this early in his PGA Tour career would go a long way for Thomas, who appears to have all the tools to follow his buddy Jordan Spieth.
This is Thomas’s first Masters appearance.
