Ernie Els Missed Another Two-Foot Putt on the First Hole at the Masters
By Michael Shamburger
Ernie Els 7-putted. We all saw the video on Thursday and accepted the 7-putt on the first hole at Augusta National as fact. Scott Van Pelt and ESPN reported it. The televised Masters coverage confirmed it. Ernie Els shot a 10 on #1 at the Masters.
Then, hours later, it was suddenly a 9. Els had only putted 6 times inside 2-feet. The video backed up the math.
How?
What happened to the 7th putt? It was there. Basic mathematical counting skills told the world that Els had taken 10 strokes to put the ball in the first hole. Fact!
So what happened to that putt!? Where did it go?
Wouldn’t you know that it – that missing missed putt reappeared on day 2 when Els was back on the first hole. Faced with another putt inside 2-feet, he missed.
The yips are a terrible thing, but least we know what happened to that lost missed putt.
