Wade Phillips, the avuncular Broncos defensive coordinator whose unit mesmerized opponents all the way to a Super Bowl championship, is getting roasted in Port Arthur, Texas, where he grew up. The shindig is happening June 3rd and will include an appearance by JJ Watt, who Phillips coached in Houston, as well as DeMarcus Ware and Jimmy Johnson. Demand was through the roof, and a venue shift was in order, reports the Port Arthur News:

" Ongoing talks with the Bob Bowers Civic Center have resulted in the roast being moved there from Lamar State College Port Arthur’s Carl Parker Center. What that means is roughly 35 more tables are potentially available … Tables of eight in all price ranges — $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000 — can be purchased. "

Proceeds benefit the Port Arthur Historical Society, which administers the Museum of the Gulf Coast; the Port Arthur News has details on where to procure them. With zero sarcasm, this would be a lovely evening if you’re in the area and can cobble together a group of eight to spend $125 apiece.
