Davis Love III spoke with the media before the RBC Heritage got underway on Thursday about Tiger Woods missing the Masters. Love, who is coming off of a tie for 42nd at the Masters, said he thought Tiger’s absence was an April Fools joke. Tiger announced through Twitter that he wouldn’t be in the field this year on April 1st, but Love didn’t believe it was true.

"“I was hoping he was going to play the Masters,” Love said on Wednesday at the RBC Heritage. “I was wrong in my prediction. He and Freddie [Couples] both not being there felt really weird.” “I thought it was the ultimate April Fools’ Day joke,” Love laughed, “and that he told the chairman [Billy Payne] he was going to play and everyone else he was skipping it.”"

Love will captain the 2016 Ryder Cup team this year at Hazeltine, and Woods will serve as vice captain along with Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk.
